MY FIRST POEM

A TREATISE ON MAN

A wondrous creature called man be born
Upon the earth onto this world
Let gods bequeath the wisdom of the old
The power to think, the courage of the bold,
To master the sciences, the arts and the laws divine
The audacity to hope and the courage to cry
To love all creatures and rule them not
To guide the foolish from the false ways they trot
To love all fellow human beings alike
And the name of god may fear strike
Now years have passed and promises broken
The faith we had has now been shaken
In god we believed and now rulers rule
He who was wise is now a fool
Believes in sin believes in sorrow
Believes that the end awaits tomorrow
Man may realize it isn’t late to make amends
And amend he shall he does pretend
But he be warned as he debates
Of the consequences that await
And all the havoc wrought upon this world
By Kings and queens, rulers and lords
Let the whole world be held in chains of truth
And face a fate hence uncouth.
